Previous to his current role as a Fire Risk Assessor, Alan had a long and fulfilling career on a busy watch in Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service as a front-line Wholetime Operational Firefighter.   Responding to over 1,800 incidents a year, Alan has seen, first hand, the devastation that fire can cause to properties as well as human life.

A move to West Dorset with his wife, Heather, to run their 2 holiday cottages made Alan realise that his fire risk assessment skills and years of experience could still be put to very good use helping and advising other holiday cottage owners in the South West and so Ignite South West was started.

Further and ongoing certified courses have kept Alan up to date with assessment procedures, current legislation along with compliancy and Home Office and Fire Service Orders.
